Manthan is for

Our Journey

Manthan began its journey as a group of social work students performing street plays to raise awareness on various issues. Day by day, the street play team began receiving offers from various organizations to perform plays addressing a range of ongoing social issues. However, after a while, the team realized that they didn't have an official name, and using their college name no longer seemed appropriate.

In September 2016, an opportunity arose for the team to perform at a National Women's Astrology Convention. During the practice sessions, the team realized that without an official name, it was difficult to be properly introduced on stage. At that moment, one of the event organizers, who was an astrologer, suggested the name “Manthan” after looking at the stars and planets of the main team members. This was the first time the name Manthan was introduced on stage as the name of the street play team. And so, the journey of Manthan began. To date, we have performed over 100 street plays to raise awareness.

Over time, this small group of 8 people expanded into 80. With growing skills in social event management, the team decided not to limit Manthan to just street plays but to expand it into a full-fledged organization. In 2019, this group from The Bhopal School of Social Sciences formally registered Manthan as “मंथन- एक सोच से सच्चाई तक” With this, Manthan received its official name and a clear vision to serve society.

Our early work included performances at the National Women's Convention in September 2016, BMC Swachhta Abhiyaan, and volunteering at events such as Run Bhopal Run, Pinkathon, Walkathon. We also supported campaigns like organ donation, Be Santa, Muskan Cloth Donation, the Raise and Rise campaign, HelpAge India campaigns, and other awareness programs, contributing actively to creating change at the grassroots level.

Evolving from humble beginnings, today Manthan is not just an organization; we are a family that listens, learns, and leads with compassion. From the narrow lanes of Bhopal to the untapped dreams of its people, we are here to walk alongside them, hand in hand, toward a brighter tomorrow.
